What Is A Roto-Jet Pump?/Rotary Jet Pump/Pitot Tube Pump

What is a roto jet pump? Rotary jet pump?Or pitot pump?

This article gives you a comprehensive description of roto-jet pumps. From the structure, working principle, features and applications, history, tell about this interesting roto-jet pump.

What is a roto jet pump?

Vertical roto-jet pump, often referred to as rotary jet pump, is a low specific speed pump developed based on the pitot tube principle. It has the characteristics of small flow, high head, flat Q-H curve, high efficiency, simple structure, and is widely used in carbon black, food, petrochemical, power plant, metallurgy, paper making, fire fighting and other industries.

Vertical roto jet pump is a new type of low flow high head, high efficiency and energy saving pump, which is different from the traditional centrifugal type. Compared with other pumps, roto jet pump has a unique rotor cavity, collecting pipe structure, its flow rate could be small, but can reach a high head, and high efficiency. In some specific industries, roto-jet pumps have been widely favored and used now.

Next, we introduce the structure of roto-jet pump.

The working princple of a roto jet pump

The flow parts and structure of the roto jet pump are obviously different from that of the single stage cantilever centrifugal pump: the rotating body and impeller of the roto jet pump are cast as one. The rotating body is composed of upper and lower pump cover. The rotating body and the impeller connect to the shaft with screws. The motor drives the pump shaft to rotate and drive the rotating body.  The collecting tube is fixed in the pump chamber. The two main working parts of rotary jet pump are the rotating body and the collecting tube. Their structure and size directly affects the performance parameters of rotary jet pump.

Application of vertical roto jet pumps

A roto jet pump mainly handles high pressure clean liquid. Roto jet pumps are widely used in petrochemical, food processing, metallurgy, mining, carbon black, paper making and other industries, it can replace some high-speed centrifugal pumps, high pressure multistage centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps, it has excellent performance in high pressure high head working conditions.

History of a roto-jet pump

In the 18th century, Henri Pitot, a French hydraulic engineer, had invented the Pitot tube pump, which was used to measure the velocity and pressure of fluids. The pump was named after him-Pitot Tube Pump.

In 1984, Baker International transferred the Roto-Jet production line to Baker Elevator Systems, another division of Baker International. Since then, we have called it Roto-Jet-Pump.

In 1994, increased capacity pitot tube pumps and vertical roto-jet pumps were introduced. Modern roto-jet pumps are based on these two types of pumps.
